At my kitchen table nearly ten years ago, CAMPO was born from a calling: To create a space for creative people. A place rooted in the quiet magic of Pueblo Garzon, where artists could confront themselves and their practice, through nature, community, exchange. A place that connected residents with local culture, open space, big skies –and offered infinite possibilities inside a slowed-down, authentic daily life.
Over the years, CAMPO grew into my dreams: a living experiment in creativity, risk and connection that took a village to build. It evolved in ways we couldn’t have imagined, shaped by every person who passed through. It paved a path and cultivated the ground for an ever-growing artistic landscape in El Este, holding a torch for what’s possible, and more importantly, what’s needed: A respect for the Arts. A respect for Artists.
“All creativity is a cycle . . . a cycle that has that quickening and rising to a Zenith and begins to decline and falls into a death and then an incubation, a holding or waiting period, and once again a quickening and then a rebirth.” -- Clarissa Pinkola Estés
Our cycle is now complete. It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of CAMPO’s closing. This is not about loss – it’s about completion. And wow, looking back on all that we’ve created fills me with wonder and pride: CAMPO AIR, CAMPO ART FEST, ELLAS, GARZON EN FOCUS, CAMPO Conversations, CAMPO CANTEEN.
Gratitude from every edge of my being goes to everyone who built, cooked, dreamed, performed, painted, filmed, wrote, sang, and simply showed up. There are so many angels out there to whom I’m deeply grateful –- donors, supporters, volunteers, artists, advisors, and especially our incredible team, past and present.
CAMPO was always more than a place – it was an energy, a spirit. Sprinkled now everywhere – especially through you. That energy will keep moving forward I’m certain -- in new forms, in new hands, in new seasons.
Abrazos,
Heidi
